The year was busy for the team of President Arcega and the Board of Directors. First in the list are the accreditation visits conducted during the years such as but not limited to, the following: October 5-7, 2016 – Accreditation visit (candidate status) at City College of Calamba headed by Dr. Rene Colocar; November 21-23, 2016 – Accreditation visit at Monkayo College of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology headed by Dr. Rene Colocar; December 1-3, 2016 – Accreditation visit (preliminary visit) at Gordon College headed by Dr. Rene Colocar; March 6-8, 2017 – Accreditation visit (preliminary visit) at Trece Martires City College headed by Dr. Elizabeth Montero.
Likewise, true to the vision of propagating knowledge of voluntary accreditation among LCUs, the association also conducted its 11th to 15th capability building trainings. The themes and speakers were as follows: 11th ALCUCOA CAPABILITY TRAINING PROGRAM with the theme “Managing Human Resources in Organization” was delivered by Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, expert in HR practices, and was held in Boracay, Aklan last November 23-25, 2016. The 12th ALCUCOA CAPABILITY TRAINING was conducted last January 25-27, 2017, at EMIRAMONA Hotel, Tagaytay, entitled “Organizational Communication” with Dr. Evelyn A. Songco, Lecturer, UST Graduate School, former Assistant to the Rector for Student Affairs (the same University) as guest speaker. The 13th ALCUCOA CAPABILITY TRAINING was again delivered by Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, as an expert in ISO quality assurance with the theme “Nurturing Excellence through Total Quality Management” last 29-31 March 2017 at A & A Plaza, Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The 14th ALCUCOA CAPABILITY TRAINING pushed thru last May 30, 31 and June 1, 2017 in Hotel Salcedo de Vigan, Vigan City, Ilocos with the theme “Leading Organizational Change” with Dr. Rene M. Colocar, College Administrator, City College of Calapan and Member, Board of Directors, ALCUCOA as back to back speaker with Prof. Ernesto C. Boydon, Dir., Computer Science Program, Asia Pacific College and Lecturer, Ateneo Professional Schools. Finally, the 15th ALCUCOA CAPABILITY TRAINING was held last July 26 to 28, 2017, with the theme: “Strategizing for the New Frontier” at Palmas Del Mar Hotel, Bacolod City with Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, an expert in institutional strategic development planning, as resource speaker.
Other Accomplishments of the ALCUCOA includes the following: the conduct of Outcomes Based Education National Conference in the latter half of 2016, wherein the Association of Local Colleges and Universities, Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA), the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU), the University of Makati Educational Development Foundation, Inc. (UMEDFI), and the Center for Curriculum and Materials Development (CCMD) of the University of Makati (UMak) hosted the said conference with Dr. William Spady “Father of OBE” as guest speaker. Similarly, Dr. Spady was invited by the BOD last May 2017 to have a dialogue during the ALCUCOA Board Meeting headed by Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, President & Executive Director. Dr. Spady challenged the BOD to merge the need to meet the minimum standards of CHED, and the need to practice real OBE on accreditation, especially in revising the accreditation instrument and the accreditation manual.
Last but not the least, on December 27, 2016, the Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA) had its Annual Christmas Convocation as year-ender at the Legend Villas Hotel in order to bring together the LCU community and to celebrate and express the gratefulness of the Association to the Lord Almighty for the countless blessings that were received through the years.
