ALCUCOA BOARD ATTENDED THE THE-ICE CONFERENCE IN LPU MANILA’S BAYLEAF HOTEL
Last February 20, 2018, the Board of Directors of ALCUCOA namely, Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega (President and Executive Director, ALCUCOA & Executive Vice President of the University of Makati), Dr. Elizabeth Montero (Vice-President, ALCUCOA and ALCU & President of Urdaneta City College), Dr. Elena Presnedi (Treasurer, ALCUCOA and President, Pamantasan of Lungsod ng Muntinlupa), and Dr. Rene Colocar (Auditor, ALCUCOA and President of City College of Calapan) attended the seminar on International Certification for Tourism and Hospitality Management Schools at the Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros. The sponsor of the said event was the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila in partnership with the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) and the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities, Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). As discussed in the presentations, THE-ICE provides conferences and workshops for both members and non-members of the said organization. It focuses on the conduct of quality assurance for tourism, hospitality and events (TH&E) education, accreditation, benchmarking and the development of best practices.
Consequently, other private Hospitality and Tourism schools also attended the said event. Awards were given to THE-ICE outstanding member schools. The ALCUCOA signified its intentions to partner with the THE-ICE in the near future when it comes to Hospitality and Tourism certification of excellence. Also joining the Board of Directors was Prof. Pomsie Adamos (Research Associate, ALCUCOA and Planning Director, University of Makati) who helped in documenting the participation of the BOD. (Adamos)
