Laguna University went through a Preliminary Visit by the ALCU-COA
Last December 11 to December 13, 2014; the Laguna University went through a Preliminary Visit for their application of a Candidate Status accreditation process from the Association of Local Colleges and Universities- Commission on Accreditation (ALCU-COA).
The Laguna University community led by their Vice President Colegio Gascon together with other administrative officials, faculty, and staff gave a warm welcome to the whole ALCU-COA team. The opening program held in the afternoon of December 11, 2014 and it was witnessed by members of the faculty and administrative staff with their guest of honor Mrs. Eugenia R. Magano, the Provincial Human Resource Management Office Head. Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, the President of ALCU-COA and the Executive Vice President of the University of Makati, gave the direction setting during the opening ceremony of the accreditation. On the other hand, Prof. Arnel M. Leonardo, the technical assistant of ALCU-COA introduces the distinguished panel of accreditors to the Laguna University community. The panel of accreditors was led by Dr. Elizabeth Montero, the president of the Urdaneta City University. Aside from Dr. Montero, the other accreditors were, Dr. Imelda Soriano- president, Gordon College; Dr. Rene Colocar- president, City College of Calapan; Dr. Norita Manly, Program Head, Graduate Program, UMak; Dr. Rebecca Tolentino, former Research Head, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila; Dr. Rosario Cadelina, Chief Librarian, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig and Prof. Mac Orendain, professorial lecturer, University of Makati.
The programs that went through accreditation process for Candidate Status are Bachelor in Communication Arts, Bachelor in Elementary Education and Bachelor in Secondary Education.
In the three day accreditation process, Laguna University officials led by the VPAA Dr. Colegio Gascon and College of Education Dean Dr. Rosemarie Sabado, the faculty, staff and students, went through a series of interviews, observation, documents scrutiny from the panel of accreditors. It was a long and tiring day for all the people involved but it was a very fulfilling experience for everyone. – A.M.Leonardo
