ALCU-COA Holds First Virtual Accreditation in Colegio ng Batangas
More than a hundred participants from various locally funded universities or colleges attended the First ALCUCOA National Research Conference with the theme “LCU Initiatives Towards Sustainable As higher education institutions in the Philippines continue to grapple with and adapt to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Association of Local Colleges and Universities - Commission on Accreditation, the official accrediting body for local colleges and universities, has remain committed to its mission of helping LUCs in their quest for quality academic offerings. As a testament to this, ALCUCOA successfully held the first virtual accreditation in the history of LUCs last September 30, 2020 to October 2, 2020.
Colegio ng Batangas submitted two (2) of its academic programs for initial visit namely Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management. The accreditation team consisted of Dr. Elizabeth A. Montero as Program Coordinator for BEED and Supervising Accreditor, Dr. Armando T. Laguimun, Program Coordinator for BSBA, Hon. Lourdes T. David, Area Coordinator for Library and Ms. Kristin Joy A. Mendoza, Senior Technical Assistant.
The three-day accreditation visit followed the usual activities in accreditation such as documents review and validation, classroom observation, interviews with key officials, stakeholder's conference and campus tour but this time, these were done virtually in different platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet.
The accreditation visit was officially opened through a Virtual Opening Program on September 30, 2020. Opening Remarks was given by the College Administrator, Dr. Lorna L. Gappi. An inspirational message was delivered by Hon. Beverley Rose A. Dimacuha, Batangas City Mayor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Colegio ng Batangas. On the part of the ALCUCOA, Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, President and Executive Director, gave his Direction Setting to set the tone of the accreditation activity. As a milestone event, the Opening Program was witnessed by College Presidents/Administrators and Accreditors all over the country. The sharing of the over-all impressions was done during the Closing Program held in October 2, 2020.
